You're waiting on ME! Well, hello there. It's me, Stacy. I guess I'm about to tell you about what went on with me this year. (Dad's making me.) [No, he's not. She's chosen to write this, instead of choosing that I do it.]

Well, hmmmm, let me try and think back that far.

Okay, the first big thing I can think of was when Dad and I went to Seattle to visit Aunt Linda and Uncle Perry. One word can describe that city to me - AMAZING! We had such a great time. We went skiing one day, but the weather could have been better, but we still had fun. Then one day we went shopping at the Pike Street Market downtown. We took this ferry ride and the view was just unbelievable! The food was good, too - thanks, Aunt Linda! Another fun highlight for me was when I got to hear "Mmmbop" played on Uncle Perry's high tech sound equipment. That definitely brought a new meaning to the word Mmmbop! Me in Seattle on the ferry
(Sorry, that was kinda corny - I get it from my dad.) Well, that about sums up our trip to Seattle! Thanks, Uncle Perry and Aunt Linda for your hospitality, great food, and recording Hanson on Oprah for me!!

American BandstandOkay, next up, I had a great rest of my 9th grade year. I wanted it to end, but then I didn't - mainly because I would start high school after summer and I was a little uneasy about the whole "high school" thing. Basketball went great. We won district! Most of our basketball team and two of our coaches drove down to Austin for the high school girls state basketball tournament. We went to eat at a place called Dick Clark's American Bandstand. [Elderly moment... she has no clue who "Dick Clark" is.]  This lady came in from the dance room where a few people were having  a private party. She was trying to get people to do the conga with her, so without thinking I hopped up, got behind her, and danced around the whole restaurant with her. Then we started talking and I told her who were and where we were from so she asked me if we wanted to join her at the party/dance they had going on in the dance room. So we did and it was sooooo much fun!

Okay, that ends up my 9th grade year. Oh, I quit band at the end of the year because I just didn't like it. Actually, I never did like it much, I just stayed in it cause I had lots of friends in band and I loved my band directors.

Okay, back to summer. My summer was a lot of fun! I slept in a lot, went to Wet'n Wild and Six Flags a lot. One big excitement was the Backstreet Boys concert in July at Coca-Cola Starplex. My two best friends, Candice and Rochelle are majorly in love with BSBs. I like them, too, but not as much as them. I respect their BSBs obsession and they respect my major Hanson obsession. Anyway, the concert was lots of fun, we were pretty close, too! My dad went, too, and I even think he enjoyed it. [A classic case of 'projecting' - seeing what you want to see. ] Even though every now and then I would look over at him and he would be laughing hysterically. [She got that part right.] It was fun!
Backstreet Boys!

As the summer came to an end, I wasn't planning on playing basketball at Trinity. But one morning my mom got a call from the varsity coach. She basically just talked about how she noticed that I wasn't signed up for basketball, she wanted me to play, blah, blah, blah. So when my mom told me, I was like, yeah, right - no way I wanna play b-ball. I guess you could say I was a little burned out of sports. But in the end I decided to play, thanks to Mom, Dad, Candice and her brother Wesley. I'm currently playing JV and having a pretty good time.

Okay, now we're to the best part.....THE HANSON CONCERT!!!

Well, it all started one night when my friend Melissa called me and said, "Hanson's going to be here in concert, I just heard on the radio." I did believe her, but I had to find out for myself. See, I knew Hanson was on tour and they weren't supposed to play here. It turned out to be the last date on their tour. So anyway, I called the radio station and after about 100 rings they picked up. I quickly blurted out, "Is Hanson coming to Dallas?" And the reply, "yes, they are" brought chills all down me. I hurriedly asked all the necessary questions, you know, where is it, when do tickets go on sale, etc.
This is Hanson, so it's worth the wait!
Right as I got off the phone I ran to my mom's room in tears. (Hey, I'm a girl in LOVE!) We hugged for awhile, then I called Dad, but he was out of town, so I left a message. Then I called my friends and told them, the whole time I'm shaking. When I had finally calmed down a little (5 hours later) I called Jordan, my friend who also likes them a lot. He was pretty happy and excited, too! I was already so excited and I hadn't even got tickets yet, but I was sure my dad could get some - he's good at that kind of stuff. [Nah, no pressure on this end.]

Tickets went on sale Saturday and I believe he got home Thursday or Friday. He said he would get me 8 tickets. So Saturday came and he went to Tom Thumb as soon as they were on sale. But he played a pretty mean joke on me. Okay, the tickets went on sale at 10:00 and he called me at like 10:15 and said, "Uh, I was just making sure you wanted me to go up there and get 8 tickets." I was fairly sure he was joking, but I didn't want to be rude so I nervously said, "Yeah, that's right." Finally he said, "I got them!" I started screaming! (Man, all this screaming and crying .... I promise I'm not a dork.) The seats were on the floor and he told me they were pretty good, so I was permanently stoked, I was floating high on a cloud! So I had two weeks to psych myself out. [I believe she means "up", as if there's an "up" above the clouds...]

When the concert came, my friends, the basketball coach, and people I didn't even know were ready for it to be over, so I would shut up! I never thought that day would come, but it finally did and it was the best night of my whole life!!! I don't think I ever stopped jumping up and down or clapping the whole time! I even made eye contact with Taylor during "Weird", oh dang!!! That was definitely the best night of my life!!

[Click for Dad's recollection of concert night.]

I think that about sums up my year. Sorry if you have a headache from reading all this.
